"Follow the Beat" Getaway

This package includes two nights at standard rates and a third night for $50 in honor of the city’s literary and artistic culture during the 1950s. This era had deep roots in North Beach, home to world-famous poets, novelists, musicians and painters who inspired what came to be known as the “Beat Generation.”

Additional highlights of this package include:

• A free guide to “Famous Beat Landmarks.”  Including the popular Beat Museum at the corner of Columbus Avenue and Broadway. The Museum is near many of the shops, cafes, stores and jazz clubs once frequented by authors as Jack Kerouac, Allen Ginsberg and William Burroughs.

Wax Museum Tickets and Aquarium Tickets can be purchased at a special discounted rate. (Please inquire at our front desk upon check-in.)

• Fior d’Italia, the historic Italian restaurant on our ground level, will present San Remo guests with a 15% discount off the food portion off the guest check.

• City Lights Bookstore — located just a few blocks from the Beat Museum and within walking distance of the San Remo, is one of the most frequented landmarks of the period.

“On the Road,” a 1951 novel written by American writer Jack Kerouac, is often considered the defining work of the post-World War II Beat Generation. The style, content, and settings were inspired by the highly stylized West Coast jazz and poetry that became associated with San Francisco and North Beach.

Phone (800) 352-7366 or put (“Beat”) in the Promotions Code field on the reservation form

Promotion is valid for stays until June 30, 2011.

"We heard of San Remo Hotel by word of mouth... someone we met on the plane... She said the place was clean and a shared bath hotel.  Our stay was very pleasant and the place was very clean.  The neighborhood is interesting and entertaining.  I loved the plants in the hallways and old furniture.  It was like taking a step back in time."
